1k for £1k Update

In March this year, to mark Autism Awareness Week, we invited local schools to take part in a sponsored 1k for £1k walk, with the aim of fundraising £1000 between them by getting the children to walk 1000 metres.

Every penny each school raised was kept by them to be used on autism resources of the school's choice.  Four schools took part - St James', Haverigg, Waberthwaite and Parkview Nursery, who had a sponsored 1000 bounce!  All the children taking part were also encouraged to dress in bright rainbow colours on the day.

Over £5000 was raised between the schools which is a magnificent achievement, raising not only much needed funds but also autism awareness amongst all the students and their families, as well as being a great way of keeping fit!

Every child taking part was awarded a certificate and medal for their efforts.  Well done everyone!
